Do you know who Marion Ettlinger is? She is a photographer known for her portraits of authors, particularly during the 80s-90s-00s. I think the only one I know personally who got Ettlingered is Jami Attenberg. Her photos are always black and white, extremely moody and, you know, SERIOUS. I wish I was the kind of person who would be an Ettlinger subject but I’m just not. My agent’s advice is to look like someone that, if you were lucky enough to be recognized, they would feel like they could say hi. I should be shot in color. I should be smiling.
