Last summer I was shopping at Thank You Have a Good Day with my friend Matthew. Alicia, who owns the store/line and Matthew worked together at Phoebe Philo-era Celine so their taste is both exquisite. I joke that our friendship has evolved to the point where Matthew has power of attorney over what I wear. He mostly gets to decide what works (buy: Chanel flats, oversized vintage Armani tuxedo shirts, sarongs, “power knits”; sell: fisherman sandals, jackets with zippers) and I have benefitted so greatly from taking his advice that I’ll buy anything he tells me.
We were on our way to Mr. Chow for dinner when Alicia swiped on a lipstick.
