I lived in a condo with no bathtub for years and always thought a spa with rental soaking tubs was my secret million-dollar idea (that I obviously did nothing to develop), so I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed reading this!! 🛀🏾
My holiday card theme this year was "The Bathtub." I have a pink art deco-inspired bathtub that had to be shipped to NYC from the UK. It was worth it. And, as a bonus, getting it into my apartment was such an ordeal that it made me famous in my building.
Ok yes. Related reading (if you can find) is Wet, “the magazine of gourmet bathing”! From the 70s/ early 80s; completely hedonistic and perfect with lots of big name interviews and contributors. Simply put, a masterpiece!!!
This was so good and FUNNY “are they unwilling to turn it off? Yes” I am a bath person in a home with three kids and no lock on the bathroom door. The idea of going somewhere where people can’t come talk to me about multiplication or socks is really appealing. One time I went to a float chamber and it was…similar, maybe? but different. And definitely not as luxurious. I am excited for this newsletter. 🫧
I am going to be honest: I don’t think she is that concerned. She probably does a rinse and then cleans it weekly? But I am really not worried about germs or dirt which is my own thing to deal with
How do you make your bathroom a place you actually want to be? I honestly don’t like mine very much (Landlord Yellow walls don’t help) so that limits its tubability… maybe I’ll get a new shower curtain or something.
I have a tiny bathroom. I think it’s a mixture of having towels you really like, being extremely organized/uncluttered, and also just accepting that your bathroom doesn’t have to be an interiors magazine sanctuary of your dreams (at least not yet). I have the shower curtains from Quiet Town (they are made from sails!) and my pro tip is to buy two so they’re really lush and curtain. Looks cool and feels more like you’re in a canopy while showering.
One I’m really invested in is this woman whose actual boyfriend seems to have either died or is ghosting her. She’s taking it pretty well: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTYvYW8nK/
I dunno what delights me more this bath or this 7up

I think I can speak for the Soft Power community when I say we need photos
I am happy to oblige as I do believe my bathtub should be very famous. I can't figure out how to upload a photo but here is my cat lounging in the tub: https://www.instagram.com/p/DAGdEXNuaKR/?img_index=1 And here are some photos from when it first arrived: https://www.instagram.com/p/CsblUfLOyBQ/?img_index=1

I have only heard whispers of it like folklore. Here for any scans anyone can find!

I need your mother's advice on cleaning the tub. I hate it. And thus I almost never take baths.
